Sugar Land Area Artists Membership Information
Mission Statement
- To provide education, encouragememt and fellowship to visual artists living in the Sugar Land area.
- To provide venues for the exhibit of art works by member artists.
- To provide a competitive atmosphere for the development of artistic talent.
- To educate and involve the local community in the practice of the visual arts.

Sugar Land Area Artists Offers:

- Art Library
- Scholarships for Students. Thanks to SLAA, 31 students in the Houston area received scholarships to attend the 2006 Summer Camp at Artists' Alliance of Sugar Land.

SLAA Community Involvement
- Sugar Land Area Artists co-hosted the 2002 Lone Star Art Guild Convention at the Fluor Building. This convention offered well know demonstrating artists and over 600 pieces of juried artwork for the community to view and enjoy. Our next hosting opportunity is May 2007 at the Stafford Centre.
- A Veterans of Foreign Wars Art Competition
- Sugar Festival 2000
- Back To School Arts and Crafts Festival (Mental Health Assoc. of Fort Bend County)
- Touring Historic Sugar Land (Keep Sugar Land Beautiful)
- Sugar Land Then and Now Art Exhibition and Sale (held at the Museum of Southern History)
- Wall Mural of Sugar Land for the Sun Newspaper and a new 2004 Wall Mural of Sugar Land for the new location.
- Art Scholarships awarded annually to deserving art students.
- 2004 "Afternoon of Art" exhibit and sale to raise funds to support The Rio Bend Foundation.
- 2004 Fundraiser workshops with Fort Ben County Partnerships for Youth to raise funds for The Rio Foundation Foster Care.
- Cultural Arts Society Lakeview Auditorium and Restoration: donation of art work for silient auction. (Founder's Ball 003 and 2004)
- Silver Fox Gala: donation of art work for silent auction.
- Sun Newspaper Cookbook Contest donation of art work for prizes.
- Wine and Cheese Art Show hosted by First Texas Bank, Sugar Land
- The Terrace Retirement Center: Art Show and Sale for the Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.
- Artwork donations have also help raise funds for the Sugar Land Cultural Arts Foundations (Lakeview Auditorium Restoration), Lone Star Stomp (Fort Bend Museum Assoc.) and others.
